iPhone for photographers

Posted by Haje Jan Kamps

Those of you who know me know that I’m never more than a metre away from my iPhone - it has its flaws (as I’ve written about on my personal home page before), but nonetheless, it’s a class piece of kit - and the iPhone 3G is going to make it better still - for photographers, too.

Interestingly, AppleMatters have done an article about what the iPhone can do for us photographers, including nuggets such as:

3. Client Photos: I’ve always thought it would be great to take a photo of my wedding photography clients at the end of a sell, so the iPhone would be just the stylish camera to do so. I could send them a thank you email with their photo almost instantly. Better yet, I could take a photo of all three us together and send an email with the subject, “your wedding photographer thanks you.” Likewise, the camera on the iPhone could be a useful networking tool in the same manner. There are some people you meat and really become friendly with that you it’s great to snap a photo of them and keep in touch that way.

and:

6. iPhone on a shoot: The most difficult parts of shooting weddings is keeping up with group shots. It might be useful to keep a gallery of group shots on my iPhone that I can glance at to remind me of group shots that I might have missed—ort of a visual checklist.

Pretty awesome stuff. Check out the full article, 10 ways professional photographers can use the iPhone, over at AppleMatters!

Interesting ideas, I think I use my iphone camera for documentation purposes from almost the day I got it and realized, hey, this thing is convenient and it doesn’t take bad snap shots. I often use the camera while shooting my Nikon.

The iphone is a great way to capture those ‘oh I wish I had my camera’ moments. It was definitely worth it’s investment!

Makes me wish I had an iPhone! This is a good idea that I think adds a nice personal touch.

Wow. I’ve had an Iphone for a year now, and always complained about the quality of pics. With these ideas, I feel like I’ve been taking it for granted. Glad I stumbled on this. Another great reason why it was a great investment.

About

This site is all about learning more about photography, from the incredibly insightful (rarely) to the dreadfully mundane (also, hopefully rarely) via just about everything in between.

If this website seems a little whimsical and random, then that's because the author of this blog, who for the occasion is confusing himself by writing about himself in the third person, is slightly whimsical and random himself.

Enjoy!
