Get published in JPG magazine!

picture-1.jpgI’ve been a fan of JPG magazine for a long time. It’s like a photography magazine, but completely different. For one, the readers are the writers. The readers are the photographers. It’s like a big community website (think Flickr), but in magazine form. I have no idea exactly how their submission system for articles works, but I know one thing: if the articles are edited in a proper way, this could be a fantastic first step for an aspiring writer to get some of their writings published on good ‘ole woodpulp. Because, well, let’s face it: Holding a magazine with your name in the byline is a hell of a lot more fun than being published on-line, right?

Of course, you might not feel that your writing is up to scratch. In that case, fear not: You could submit your photographs on a theme instead! That’s right: Scour your library, or go out and take new photos specifically for the topics under discussion in the next issue of JPG magazine. Not only could you become a published photographer, but if they do use your photos, they’ll pay you for it! Bonza.

I’ve recently been warning people against getting done over by dodgy contracts, but JPG magazine is of a different calibre altogether, and you really have nothing to worry about. Derek, the editor, is a good guy, and JPG magazine in general is an edgy, interesting, and inspiring publication.

For Issue 10, JPG magazine is looking for textual and photographic contributions on the topics Entropy, Beauty Redefined, and Breakthrough. Get funky. Get creative. Get your work submitted. You never know what might come of it.

My submissions for this issue are below. What do you reckon? If you like them, please vote on them, and go on to vote on the rest of the photos in the topic as well. (That’s the way Derek decides what goes in the magazine! How web 2.0!). And if you reckon you can do better, then, well, vote on them anyway, and then get your arse over to JPG Magazine, perhaps have a quick look at the FAQ to find out how it all works, and then upload your own submissions!

Personally, I think this is the coolest thing to have ever happened to photograpy magazines and, indeed, magazine publishing on the whole. Hell, this mag is so exciting, I might just subscribe to it. Get involved, folks…

Being published online is just as rewarding to me as wasting more poor trees. Ha!

My primary art is subjects of entropy and NUDES so issue 10 fits me well.

JPG is starting to flounder in submissions in my opinion.
