Donations
I know it’s a bit cheeky to ask, so that’s why I don’t really do that… but I do occasionally get an e-mail from people who want to put some money towards the running cost of the website, so hence this page.
I run Photocritic as an unpaid hobby project – and I hope you’ve enjoyed the hundreds of articles that are currently on my site, along with the stuff I do elsewhere around the internet, like my Twittering about photography, photo critiques on various websites, etc.
How and how much to donate
If you love Photocritic, and find yourself with just a little bit too much money spare, and you feel like you’d like to help me towards the server costs and my beer fund, then feel free, using this form on PayPal.
No idea how much to donate? A pint of fine ale in my local pub costs £3/$6, 1 months server costs are about £30 / $60.
Donations are rare enough that they are a true novelty, so I’m genuinely touched and encouraged even by $1 :)
Thank you!

My day job, if it can be called that, is being a writer. I've got one book out there so far and it's awesome, so go ahead and buy a copy! It's available from
In front of you, five hyperactive men with guitars, drums, and microphones. Behind you, five thousand fans. In your hands, a camera... You're going to need more than just a little bit of good luck to pull this one off. That's where this book comes in.
Take a Canon EOS 450D. Attach a Canon 50mm f/1.4 lens. Hit the streets of London. See what happens.
