I first repaired her laptop and then I converted it into a frame. It's based on XP since it already had XP installed. Uses Slickr and wifi so that updating photos is done entirely on the internet. Fun project and didn't cost me much. It only took about four hours and it looks great! My mom loves it. I've got a very incomplete set of pictures at http://wiki.wolever.net/picture_frame if anyone is interested. I'd also be more than happy to offer my help to anyone thinking of building one -- just drop me an e-mail.
