So, I have a shitload of photos. I don’t know how many, actually, but there are a fair few - about 35 thousand, i reckon. And somehow, I manage to keep them organised. Mostly.

So, you’re a fan of independent cinema, are you? How do you feel about turning your photos into what could have been still frames from an indie movie?
I found a tutorial that does just that over on Art World, but to be honest, I thought it wasn’t well enough thought through, and in addition, I immediately spotted a couple of possibilities for improvement… So here’s my take on the same subject! Read the rest of the article »

Displaying photos is becoming a strenuous task. With services such as Photobox, you can print your photos cheaply, but who wants a stack of paper anymore? Alternatively, you could go the digital photo frame route, but the price of these devices is a bit silly, for what it is.

If you’re not working with photos professionally, you can’t really be blamed for not bothering with key-wording your photos. If you do, however, a new piece of software by Bedouin Ventures called BabelPix may just make your life a hell of a lot easier.
The software idea is laughably simple - it takes the keywords embedded into a photograph and translates them for you. So what, I hear you think, but this is actually a pretty big deal: These key-words are the very words that are used by stock agencies (such as Alamy) to search through their databases of images.
In other words, if you manage to keyword your images in more languages, you could instantly have access to a series of new markets. Read the rest of the article »

There is a lot to be said for making stuff yourself, but what when there are things you can’t make? I’m a half-decent programmer, but couldn’t write a piece of image software if my life depended on it. Luckily, there is a lot of fantastic freeware out there.
